The castle is slowly being repaired and it is rumored that it has been sold by the government to a private owner. Currently the grounds are well kept but the castle is very badly damaged, which is part of the charm. The castle took a pounding in the 1991 civil war and was heavily damaged, with good visible bullet and shell holes on the walls overlooking the valley. But castle itself is impressive, not by the way this castle is the biggest ancient castle in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
