Tour description

Introduction

Join us on a relaxing 3-day discovery micro tour from Rogoznica to Sibenik and Zadar, crafted for seniors and mature travelers who love history, sightseeing, and scenic drives without hurry. Following the Slow Tourism philosophy with no rush and no tight schedules, this year-round journey takes you through the most beautiful coastal towns of central Dalmatia, from the UNESCO-protected fortresses and cathedral of Sibenik to the ancient fortified city of Zadar, with its Roman Forum and enchanting Sea Organ.

Experience cultural aspects of Dalmatian heritage, admire scenic roads along the Adriatic coast, and let the region's rich history unfold before you. This tour blends well-known destinations with a meaningful hidden gem – the Our Lady monument in Loreto – all at a gentle, easy pace, returning to Rogoznica.

Day after day description

Day 1. We depart from Rogoznica and travel to Sibenik, where we explore the Barone Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a 17th-century defensive structure offering panoramic views of the city. We also visit the nearby St. John Fort and St. Michael Fortress (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites), then wander through Sibenik's atmospheric historical center and admire the magnificent Cathedral of St. James (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture built entirely of stone between the 15th and 16th centuries. We will stay overnight in Sibenik.

Day 2. After staying in Sibenik, we travel to Zadar to explore its fortified old town (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a city with roots stretching back to antiquity. We stroll through the Roman Forum, the largest on the eastern Adriatic coast, visit the 12th-century St. Anastasia's Cathedral, experience the enchanting Sea Organ, an architectural sound installation that creates melodies from the waves, and explore the unique Underwater Archaeology museum, showcasing finds from submerged ancient sites. We will stay in Zadar.

Day 3. After staying in Zadar, we travel back to Sibenik to see the sea-guardian St. Nicholas Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site), located at the entrance to the St. Anthony Channel. We then continue to Loreto to see the Statue of Our Lady of Loreto, a 30-meter-tall votive monument erected in 1960 by the grateful local community after their vineyards were miraculously spared from disease. A richly decorated gray stone column supports the black statue of the Virgin Mary, placed on one side and facing the sea and the nearby town of Primosten. The location also offers a stunning panoramic viewpoint over the surrounding coastline and islands. Finally, we return to Rogoznica, where our memorable journey concludes.

Conclusion

This 3-day micro discovery tour delivers a wonderfully relaxed immersion into the historical, cultural, and coastal splendors of central Dalmatia. We warmly invite you to travel with us – at a gentle pace, without hurry – to experience the timeless allure of Sibenik, Zadar, and their enchanting surroundings.
