Join us on a relaxing 5-day discovery tour from Trebinje, crafted for seniors and mature travelers who love history, sightseeing, and local food and drinks without hurry. Following the Slow Tourism philosophy with no rush and no tight schedules, this comprehensive journey takes you through the main places of Bosnia-Herzegovina, including UNESCO sites, medieval fortresses, serene monasteries, stunning waterfalls, and the vibrant capital Sarajevo.

Experience cultural aspects of this fascinating country, admire scenic roads through the Neretva valley and Sutjeska National Park, sample excellent local vintages at two traditional wineries, and let the region's rich history unfold before you. This tour perfectly blends well-known destinations like Mostar and Sarajevo with off-the-beaten-path hidden gems such as the Vjetrenica cave and the Tunnel of Hope museum – all at a gentle, easy pace, returning to Trebinje.

Day after day description

Day 1. We depart from Trebinje and travel to Tvrdos to explore its Serbian Orthodox monastery, originally founded in the 15th century. At the Tvrdos winery we enjoy a tasting of their excellent red wines, particularly the local Vranec variety, known for its deep color and robust body. We then continue to the fascinating Vjetrenica cave system (UNESCO World Heritage Site), renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity and spectacular underground formations. Our journey proceeds to the iconic city of Mostar to explore its famous historical center (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and admire the reconstructed 16th-century Stari Most (Old Bridge), a powerful symbol of reconciliation. We will stay overnight in Mostar.

Day 2. After staying in Mostar, we travel to Medjugorje, a world-famous Roman Catholic pilgrimage center that has attracted millions of visitors since reported apparitions began in 1981. We then visit Podrumi Andrija, a family-owned winery where we sample their premium white wines, including Žilavka, a crisp Herzegovinian varietal with floral and fruit notes. Our day concludes at the spectacular Kravica waterfalls, a natural amphitheater of cascades on the Trebizat River, ideal for swimming and photography. After that, we will return to Mostar for accommodation.

Day 3. After 2 nights in Mostar, we take a short drive to Blagaj to visit the stunning Dervish monastery (Tekija) (UNESCO Tentative List Site), a 16th-century Sufi (Islamic) retreat dramatically built at the source of the emerald Buna River. We then travel to Konjic to see its iconic Old Stone Bridge from the 17th century. Our journey continues to Sarajevo with a poignant stop at the Tunnel of Hope museum, a preserved underground passage that served as a vital lifeline during the city's siege in the 1990s. After that, we will come to Sarajevo for accommodation.

Day 4. After staying in Sarajevo, we explore the city's historical center (UNESCO Tentative List Site), a vibrant mosaic of Eastern and Western influences. We see the Sacred Heart cathedral, visit the Gazi Husrev-beg museum, wander through the bustling Bascarsija old bazaar, and admire the elegant Sebilj fountain. We stay another night in Sarajevo.

Day 5. After 2 nights in Sarajevo, we ascend via the city's charming funicular for breathtaking panoramic views of the capital nestled in the valley. We then enjoy a scenic drive through the stunning Sutjeska National Park, one of Bosnia's oldest and most beautiful protected areas. Finally, we return to Trebinje, where our memorable journey concludes.

The winery is situated just 16 kilometers south of the famous city of Mostar and just a few kilometers from the world-famous pilgrimage site of Međugorje.

Blagaj has eleven national monuments, and is famous for the spring of the Buna river coming from cave, historical Dervish monastery (tekija) built around 1520, and medieval fortress Blagaj Fort, town-fortress complex built on a 310 meters high karst hill. Blagaj is also known as a residential area of Bosnian rulers and royal families.

Konjic, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The town is one of the oldest permanent settlements in Bosnia-Herzegovina (dating back almost 4000 years), and home to the iconic Konjic Old Stone Bridge, constructed in 1683 during the Ottoman era.
