Tour description

All seasons 2 days tour to discover surrounding of Mostar and Trebinje. Visit the most important places in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

With this tour we going to see historical town Blagaj with dervish monastery (tekija) built around 1520; visit archaeological site Radimlja with carved gravestones (UNESCO World Heritage Site); walk in Vjetrenica Cave (UNESCO Tentative List Site), Bosnia's largest and most important cave, and see a unique and totally endemic animal, the so-called human fish; close to the cave we will see small Orthodox monastery Zavala, partially located in cave; end of the day we will come to Trebinje, to see its cathedral and have good dinner in local restaurant that also serve wine from its own vineyard.

On the next day, we will come to Tvrdos monastery, learn why this monastery is so important for all local people, and taste its famous wines; the day will continue with visiting Stolac and climb on hill with medieval Ottoman fortress; next we need to see a real Roman villa Rustica, established as agricultural estate in 4th century AD; and finish our day with walk in historic medieval town Pocitelj, served as open-air museum, with narrow streets and old Ottoman fort with great view. After that we will return back to Mostar.

Blagaj is a village in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of Bosnia-Herzegovina, located in about 15 km from Mostar, and is one of the most valuable mixed urban and rural built environments in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Blagaj has eleven national monuments, and is famous for the spring of the Buna river coming from cave, historical Dervish monastery (tekija) built around 1520, and medieval fortress Blagaj Fort, town-fortress complex built on a 310 meters high karst hill. Blagaj is also known as a residential area of Bosnian rulers and royal families.

Radimlja, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Known for archaeological site; archaeological site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Radimlja is a main UNESCO World Heritage Site where is possible to see so called Stecci, a monumental medieval tombstones. Radimlja necropolis located near town Stolac, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is one of the most valuable monuments of the medieval period in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Vjetrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Known for cave; cave is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Vjetrenica (the wind cave) is the largest and most important cave in Bosnia-Herzegovina, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and one of the most important caves in the Dinaric Alps mountain range, which is famous worldwide for its karstic and speleological richness. It is a real treasure in biodiversity. Also, it is the home to the famous olm (cave aquatic salamander) and houses beautiful cave formations as well.

Zavala, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Known for orthodox monastery

An important and historical Serbian Orthodox monastery located in the village of Zavala, approximately 50 km from Trebinje (Republika Srpska). Along with Zitomislic (located near Mostar) and Tvrdos (near the city of Trebinje), Zavala is one of the most prominent monasteries in East Herzegovina.

Trebinje, the southernmost city in Bosnia-Herzegovina and one of the most beautiful cities in the country, is the economic and cultural center of the region of Eastern Herzegovina. Its Ottoman walled Old Town together with the Arslanagic Bridge (which is one of the most attractive Ottoman-era bridges in Bosnia-Herzegovina) are the most visited tourist attraction in Trebinje.

Tvrdoš (Tvrdos), Bosnia and Herzegovina

Known for winery, orthodox monastery

The famous monastery Tvrdos, located about five kilometers from Trebinje, dates back to the Middle Ages and it is believed that it was founded by the Czar, Saint Constantine, and his mother Saint Helen. The Tvrdos monastery is renowned for its wine production and its wine cellars, with possibility to wine tasting.

Stolac, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Known for ancient megalites, fortress, river, viewpoint, waterfall; fortress is a UNESCO Tentative List Site

Stolac and surroundings have been inhabited since ancient times due to the area's favorable natural environment. The rich grounds along with other natural benefits attracted prehistoric man, and later the Illyrians, Romans and Slavs, all of whom left a wealth of anthropological evidence. The area has been settled for at least 15,000 years.

Mogorjelo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Known for ancient settlement, archaeological site, nature

Mogorjelo is site and location of a Roman villa rustica that dates from the early fourth century. The villa area is surrounded by a park. The site is protected by the state and is a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Počitelj (Pocitelj), Bosnia and Herzegovina

Known for fortified town, fortress, medieval old town, viewpoint; medieval old town is a UNESCO Tentative List Site

Počitelj is a small Ottoman-Mediterranean settlement, built along the Neretva river, conveniently located on the major road between Dubrovnik and Mostar. The walled town of Počitelj evolved in the period from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Architecturally, the stone-constructed parts of the town are a fortified complex, in which two stages of evolution are evident: medieval and Ottoman.
