Money and use cards on the trip

In each country of your trip you can use main credit and debit cards. You can use ATM to withdrawal cash or pay at purchase point with card.

Currently these currencies exist in region:

Croatia use use Euro from 1st January 2023
Bosnia and Herzegovina use own currency called Marka
Montenegro use Euro
Serbia use own currency called Dinar
Albania use own currency called Lek
Macedonia use own currency called Denar

Money exchange

The exchange rates depend on source and target currency. The most common currency in region is euro, so usually banks provide special rate for exchange from Euro to local currency. Generally, the exchange fee in such case is 1%.

For the most of currencies, you can't get local currency outside of mother's country, so you will probably need to exchange once you arrive. Please consult with your tour leader for details.

The easiest currency for exchange is Euro. But you won't have many troubles exchanging any other major currency. The exchange office clerk will ask your passport and give you to sign a confirmation. You can expect some level of english in banks and exchange offices.

Please remember, any leftover currency better to exchange before you leave the country because you will not be able to do that once you're home.

ATM's, Credit/Debit Cards and similar

Most of the shops and restaurants in all the larger cities accept credit/debit cards. There are some small shops, mostly in smaller towns that don't accept cards at all. So it might be a good idea to have some cash with you.In case of need, banks are usually Western Union partners.
